North Tampa’s outpatient programs give individuals who are struggling with mental disorders or substance abuse problems the support of a structured treatment setting that is less intensive than inpatient programs. By participating in outpatient programming, individuals have the ability to slowly transition back into their home environments, while still benefitting from education, support, and encouragement through different therapeutic interventions.
Types of Outpatient Programs
At North Tampa Behavioral Health, we offer three types of outpatient programming, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and two intensive outpatient program (IOP) options which have an initial evaluation and weekly follow up by a psychiatrist or psychiatric Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP). These outpatient programming options are discussed below.
Partial Hospitalization Program
Our leading partial hospitalization program (PHP) in Tampa meets five days per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. While taking part in our partial hospitalization program, clients are able to engage in the following services:
- Medication management: Depending on the particular needs of each individual, certain medications may be implemented as part of his or her outpatient programming. When such is the case, individuals have the ability to meet with a psychiatrist for ongoing medication management services in order to ensure that the medications that they have been prescribed are working effectively and to make any changes that may be necessary.
- Individual therapy: Individual therapy sessions provide clients with an opportunity to meet one-on-one with our psychiatrist in a confidential setting where they can discuss their treatment progress or process through any concerns that they may have.
- Group therapy: Group therapy in our outpatient program offers clients the chance to come together with their peers in a safe environment where they can give and receive support to and from one another. These sessions can also be an optimal place for clients to gain education on various aspects of mental illness, chemical dependency, and different facets of treatment.
- Recreational activities: Offered in a supportive and therapeutic setting, recreational activities can be a wonderful complement to traditional treatment modalities, helping clients to work toward optimal recovery.
Lunch is available to PHP participants.
Intensive Outpatient Program
Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) meets three to five days a week, from 8:30 a.m. until noon. While taking part in our intensive outpatient program, clients are offered the following services:
- Either mental health-focused group therapy or substance abuse-focused group therapy
- Ability to work toward recovery goals while maintaining one’s current lifestyle and being able to meet daily commitments
- If medication management services are necessary, IOP staff can assist in coordinating care
